Music In Motion Sponsorship
We all know the power of music. It has the ability to connect to us and transport us to another time and place. We’ve all had that moment — you’re listening to the radio or your mp3 player is on shuffle and a certain song comes on. That song, those lyrics, the rhythm of the beat, has the ability to take you back to an exact moment or make you feel a distinct way. That is the beauty of music; none of us are invincible to it. It has the power to let us escape and take us to the most amazing places. Those who are able to read, write or play music are blessed with an extraordinary gift. They are the ones who allow the rest of us to have those moments.
Music in Motion (M.I.M.) is the newest program under Hearts in Motion that is dedicated to bringing the power of music to the people of Guatemala by providing instruments and music lessons to the community. The mission of Music in Motion is to see lives changed through music and all the good it provides the human spirit. By transporting us to another place, music has the ability to heal us. Not only does music provide spiritual and emotional nourishment, learning how to play an instrument teaches us life skills such as determination, focus, hard work and discipline. These skills help to shape a more confident and happier person.
Music in Motion was created over the summer of 2013 as a memorial project in memory of Ian Jerdon, who was tragically killed in a car accident on March 12, 2012 at the age of 22. Ian started on his journey with music at 8 years old when he first started taking guitar lessons. He fell in love with music and started writing his own around the age of 10. He spent hours of every day playing, studying and listening to music. He later taught himself to play other instruments and became a predominant figure in the local music scene. Music was his passion and he found his greatest joy in sharing it with others. It is through H.I.M. and Ian that this program came to be and it is my sincere hope that Music in Motion will provide for the people of Guatemala what music did for my brother.
For only $30.00 a month you can sponsor a child to participate in this program. Your sponsorship will be making an investment in the future of a child, allowing them the opportunity to dream new dreams, open the door to endless possibilities of expressing their own unique individual creativity. The confidence each child gains from this program is priceless; giving them the ability to face the world and its challenges with new found inner determination and strength to succeed. Below are photos of the children involved in the program. You can either choose a child that speaks to your heart or we will be happy to choose one for you.
Besides sponsoring children, there are other ways for you to help and be involved with this program!
What we need:
