How do I prepare for a trip? Who can volunteer? H.I.M. needs all types of volunteers: Medical professionals, skilled
tradesmen, EMTs, firefighters, and people
who speak spanish fluently enough to act as interpreters. If you don't
feel you fit into one of these categories, don't worry; a willing heart
is your most valuable tool to be a team member. There
is a place for everyone!
The following medical/dental specialties are most frequently used:
anesthesia and nurse anesthesia, dentistry, oral and maxillofacial
surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, plastic surgery, nursing, and physical
therapy. We are always looking for other specialties to join our Hearts
In Motion team.

How do I prepare for a trip?
The most effective volunteers are those who have taken the time to
learn about the country where they will be of service as well as about
the project. All volunteers receive an orientation packet several months
before they go on a trip. This packet includes a program description,
contact information as well as a description of what the trip will
entail.
